Incredible Weight Loss with Very Little Effort

I’m blown away. I knew essential oils worked – but like this?!?!

A friend of mine recently purchased grapefruit essential oil to use as a weight loss tool. “Grapefruit?!” Yes, grapefruit.

Did you know that grapefruit actually dissolves fat?

Did you know it fights fluid retention?

Did you know it battles obesity for you?

I doubt it because I didn’t know it either… not until my friend started using it!

And here’s the even bigger kicker – she is only drinking it by adding drops to her water and rubbing it on topically!!

She was averaging out to losing 1 pound per week using grapefruit essential oil and didn’t even change her food intake, type of foods she was eating, or her exercise level. Amazing!

Another friend of mine lost 5 pounds in about 2 weeks by drinking it alone!!

Needless to say, I have just added it to my monthly order of essential oils to have in my own collection – not just to keep me trim and thin (let’s face it, we all have extra bulges we’d prefer to live without!), but look at what else this astounding oil can do…

Peppermint Wins Again

I’ve been duped. Or I at least think it’s a great possibility.

My oldest son has been home for 2 days this week, complaining that his tummy hurt. Yet, he’s been eating like crazy – even more than usual. Hmmm…

Sunday evening, I tucked the kids in bed, said goodnight with hugs and kisses, and rubbed their usual dose of lavender on them to help them sleep. They love that stuff. If I forget, they ask for it (yay, kids!).

Ten minutes later, my son was rolling around on the bed complaining his lower tummy REALLY hurt – intestinal pain. Definitely NOT trying to dupe me.

Time for the big guns.

I got out my peppermint essential oil, added 1 drop to some water in a glass, and had him drink up.

He didn’t even drink the entire thing, but I never heard another word out of him. Within just minutes, he was asleep!

I gave him peppermint off and on throughout the 2 days that he complained about his tummy. He said it ached. Then he was nauseous. One thing after another.

I don’t know what he was fighting off, but I know he never threw up, didn’t have a fever, and was a bouncing, playing boy when he wasn’t complaining or eating.

Peppermint wins again!

Also, I just learned that strep has been found in one of my twins’ preschool pals. I’m using elderberry (sambucus) juice and peppermint to fight off any nasties before they try to take hold.

(Peppermint is one of the most universal of the essential oils. It’s an excellent addition to a first aid kit for its soothing affects on indigestion, halting nausea, fighting and preventing illness, etc.)

Skin, Skin Everywhere and What Are We Teaching Our Kids?

I’m tired of skin. I’m tired of it showing in places where it needs to be left up to the imagination, and I’m tired of everyone making such a big deal about what everyone’s looks like.

We have become a very shallow society when even our children are thinking they need to dress a certain way or look a certain way to be “sexy.”

How do they even know what that word means at age 5 & 6?

I’m not saying I don’t think people should look their best and be sexy ~ however, we need to look at how we have defined “sexy” and see how well that lines up with reality.

I’ve always been thin. Actually, I’m one of those people that was so thin growing up that I’d hear quite often, “do you have to jump around in the shower to get wet?” (I still can hear me saying it in a whiny voice in my head!)

Then… I had kids.

THEN… I had twins.

Bodies don’t stay the same shape as they age, have kids, go through stressful circumstances… doing life!

We can’t expect our significant other to stay the same, nor ourselves. It’s just not reality. Most of the girls in magazines have had eating disorders, are on the verge of it, or just plain have a body-type that’s totally unusual.

Because I gained weight with my pregnancies and had to lose it, it gave me a new respect for people going through weight loss issues, those who work out all of the time, and those that feel so bad in their skin because of the cloud of “sexy” society has put on them.

Fortunately, through some great workout programs and eating healthy, I was able to drop back to my pre-pregnancy weight fairly quickly. Of course, I still have my “twin skin” that wouldn’t go away without surgery… but my muscle separation is getting better… which means my tummy is flatter.

Yes, I want a flat tummy. Who doesn’t?

But am I going to beat myself up because it hasn’t fully happened yet? No. I’m going to celebrate the successes I have had and continue working out and eating wisely.

If people would only realize that “sexy” is a bi-product of strong, there would be a total shift of focus. We need to work on getting healthy bodies, not just sexy ones. You can be super thin and extremely toxic and unhealthy. Ask me how I know!

Our focus needs to be health from the inside out ~ eating more veggies, adding exercise 4-5 times a week, and pushing ourselves a little bit more every day… more fresh veggies, more reps of bicep curls. Sexy will follow. Get strong first!

The use of essential oils with health amazes me. A friend of mine has lost 10 pounds in about 8 weeks just simply using grapefruit essential oil in her water and rubbing it on her core mid-section. She is also using other oils and drinking NingXia Red, a wolfberry (goji) drink with Orange, Tangerine, and Lemon essential oils, to get even healthier on the inside.

Could you imagine a life where your head is clear (no more “brain fog”), your eyes are bright, your teeth are white (without the use of harsh chemical whiteners), you have the endurance to race around the field with your kids playing soccer until it gets dark without getting winded in the first 10 minutes… a life of strength, health, beauty. Imagine popping out of bed every morning, ready to take on your day… and you only had 6 hours of sleep because you don’t need any more. Imagine feeling great inside with no IBS, bloating, cramping, mouth sores, or constipation. Imagine feeling good after a workout… getting your muscles stronger and stronger.

Now, imagine your kids seeing what you are doing, how you are feeling, the changes you’re making, and wanting to participate and be just like you!

Why are you putting this off? Why are you so settled into your life of mediocrity that you aren’t willing to just see a glimpse of the other side of health? Why are you so tired of being tired, yet you won’t change shoveling in that greasy burger or make time in the morning to even exercise for 10 minutes? Why haven’t you thought of yourself as special enough to get the essential oils you need and use them for optimal, vibrant health?

There is only one you. No one can replace you. No one can come close.

Your health is the one thing that’s the hardest to replace in your life. Don’t wait! Get your exercise program, your healthy foods, and your essential oils started today.

There are people in your life counting on you. They depend on you.

Why not jump on this? What’s the worst that could happen? You get healthy, strong, AND sexy?!?!

Wow. That seems like a real bummer (NOT!).

Now, get off your rear and get in gear.

I’ll help you every step of the way…

Skin, Skin Everywhere and What Are We Teaching Our Kids?

Healthy Bottoms, Happy Babies

When you have a family with sensitive tummies, sometimes it creates sore bottoms. I remember when I had my first baby, my mom said, “Be careful of carrots. You ALL reacted to carrots!” Apparently, we all got a bad diaper rash every time we had them. Fortunately, of course, we grew out of it!

However, you may have a little one of your own that seems to keep fighting diaper rash. The bad news is that there could be many things causing it.

In my four kids, we have battled constipation, diarrhea, allergies to foods, yeast overgrowth, and even poison ivy! Yes, you read that right. Poison ivy was passed from my husband from working in the yard to our twin boys when he changed their diapers. It took weeks to get over it, and eventually, we had to stop using our cloth diapers.

Fortunately, there are many good remedies that work for all types of rashes. Here are a few great ones:

- Basic Diaper Rash: coconut oil & lavender essential oil (organic & therapeutic-grade), Bert’s Bees Baby Bee Diaper Ointment, Boudreaux’s Butt Paste, vaseline & Mylanta (the Mylanta heals it while the vaseline keeps it protected)

- Yeast Overgrowth: Lotrimin topically. If this doesn’t resolve it, be sure to take your kiddo to the Pediatrician ASAP. In our case, our son needed antibiotics internally to help, too. Yeast, also known as thrush, is a nasty thing, not to be messed with for too long. If you suspect it, have it checked out immediately and deal with it. Candida is also yeast overgrowth. And yeast can also be passed back and forth between baby and nursing mom. Not fun. Even if your child doesn’t have a white patch on their tongue, but has a diaper rash that won’t go away, more than likely it IS thrush.

- Constipation / Constant “Skid Marks”: one of the best remedies for this is Balmex or another zinc oxide-based diaper rash ointment. One of the twins gets this every once in awhile when his system reacts to something or he doesn’t drink enough. I have to make sure he continues to drink often, but there are some times I have no idea what causes it. However, he can have just two bad, stinky diapers in a row, and his skin is so sensitive that he not only breaks out, but even can bleed. It’s awful and painful. We have tried all of the treatments for “Basic Diaper Rash” – nothing. It didn’t touch it. However, when I tried some zinc oxide-based ointment, it cleared it up within about three days!

Some kids are more sensitive to foods, some have more sensitive skin, and some, with the combination of both, can make for very bad diapers and diaper rash.

The first thing to realize is it’s not your fault as a parent. This just happens. Don’t beat yourself up. Circumstances can cause reactions that you don’t plan and can’t predict. Just try and try again if at first you don’t succeed. Personally, I like to try the most natural treatments first. However, there are just some times that you need to grab a medication to get it cleared up as soon as possible.

I hope one of these remedies works well for your little one and that the rash doesn’t continue too long. They aren’t any fun for babies… or us moms!

A Must-Have For Your First Aid Kit

Lavender is one of the most universally great essential oils to have in your first aid kit. Why? Listen to these different stories about lavender with my family and friends…

~ My daughter wasn’t able to fall asleep one night, so I rubbed some lavender mixed with a carrier oil onto her. She was asleep within minutes. She now asks for lavender every night!

~ My son, also, had trouble sleeping one night. After rubbing lavender into his skin, I didn’t hear another peep from him until morning.

~ My dad mowed his backyard lawn the other day where there was a lot of weeds and overgrown brush area. He got stung twice. After trying to ignore the poison and feeling for a little while, he asked me what oil to use. I said, “When all else fails, use lavender!” He did and the pain IMMEDIATELY left and never returned!!

~ My mom watched as a mosquito bit her wrist the other evening. She smacked it off and thought to quickly rub lavender into it. The spot never welted up, got red, nor itched!

~ A friend diffuses lavender into her bedroom to help her insomnia. A bonus was that her husband has stopped snoring from the first night she diffused it!!!

There are plenty of other stories of the benefits of lavender. One testimonial I heard from someone else was that lavender, along with some other oils, like Peace & Calming essential oils blend, helped a little boy with ADHD calm down in a school setting by merely having the bottles opened on the desk behind him. He stopped squirming in his seat, got quiet, and raised his hand calmly to answer questions. This was repeated at least 4 weeks in a row, and everytime, it worked!

If you have a story of your own regarding lavender essential oil, please share it with us!

Be sure to use organic, therapeutic-grade lavender. To add some to your first aid kit, visit our Lavender page!
