Finding Muscle Separation & The Non-Surgical Solution

Pregnancy and weight gain can lead to muscle separation. It’s official term is “diastasis recti.” It’s means the separation of straight, abdominal muscles, basically.

However, what few people realize is that the problem is more with the “corset” (transverse abdominis) muscle than what we consider the “six-pack” muscle. The corset muscle is about 3 layers deep and works just like it sounds – as a corset. It holds all of your organs in and is a major part of your core muscles.

With muscle separation, that muscle is no longer holding together as it should. So instead of a strong set of muscles holding your organs, there is only a thin sheet of tissue holding them in at the split.

A good way to tell you have muscle separation is either by what’s consider the “muffin top” lower belly pooch or if your lower stomach seems to get bigger as the day progresses, after you have put more meals into it. Remember, with only a thin layer of tissue holding everything, it’s no wonder your tummy gets larger and larger throughout the day with your stomach and intestines right behind it… digesting!
