Growing up, we all heard “you are what you eat.” Did you believe it? I have to admit, when I heard it in school, I thought, “yea, whatever! You just want me to eat my vegetables!” I already ate some veggies a bit since my mom cooked them for dinner most every night. However, I definitely didn’t go out of my way to eat them.
When you have a sick family member, especially a child, you do what you have to to get them better. You research. You try new things. You try things you never thought you would.
One of those things… eating more fresh fruits and veggies, including raw, that showed up in my research OVERWHELMINGLY to be beneficial for anyone healing!
So now, I totally, whole-heartedly, believe that “you are what you eat!” I have personally felt the benefits of it. When you are trying to get a child to not only eat more vegetables, but eat them raw, you better be willing to put your food where your mouth is ~ literally and figuratively. You have to be willing to eat the same foods and take the journey with them. They have to know you support them and believe in what you are doing and the lifestyle changes you are making. So, having changed the foods I put in my mouth and the way they were prepared, I was able to not only see the benefits, but feel the benefits of this positive change! My health did a total 180 when I added more veggies and raw, fresh foods to my lifestyle (it’s not a diet, it’s a way of living!). I lost my post-baby weight, my teeth got whiter, my eyes brighter, and I had a surge of energy that I have not been able to repeat. My body was getting the nourishment and nutrients it needed that it was craving and lacking from the Standard American Diet (SAD). It really is SAD what the processed, nutrient-less foods do to us.
But have hope… there is an amazing documentary that everyone should watch! FoodMatters jumps into the food world and how the right foods benefit everyone, how dangerous pharmacutical drugs can be, and how doctors, unfortunately, are not trained in nutritional like we are led to believe.
So, why am I writing you about this now? Well, you can watch FoodMatters for FREE now through Oct 8th. And I HIGHLY recommend it! You have no excuse… everyone can watch it now without paying a dime!!!
After October 8th, you can still watch it online for a nominal fee.
