You may not know that I am a knitter by heart. I love creating a beautiful piece to both look at and wear, and even give away sometimes.
It amazes me that something so gorgeous, like the baby blanket in this photo, can come from a single string of yarn.
It starts out as nothing but a few fibers twisted together to make, what seems like, a thick string. But as the creator of the piece molds it, shapes it, and guides it along the needles, it takes form into something magnificent.
That’s how our lives are. Separated, each section of life seems to be individual strings. You try to fit, place, or “knit” it together to make a wonderful masterpiece. But, just as in blanket-making, if you are missing one or more of the supplies, you will never be able to complete it as wonderfully or beautifully, even if at all, than if everything was used, worked, operated as it should, and built into a lovely finished product.
Having said that, do you have the proper “supplies” in your life and use them the right way? Supplies for life are foods, fitness, relationships, finances, character, etc.
Are you eating well? Exercising regularly? Treating others as you would like them to treat you? Working with integrity? Giving to those in need?
You can’t expect to neglect an area of life and feel great, have a wonderful family life and great friendships, be at your ideal weight, be happy all the time, etc. Our lives are intertwined and require discipline on our part. We have to do what is required of us to have a productive, happy, and fulfilling life. It doesn’t just come to us. It’s worked on, earned, and enjoyed after it’s been diligently planned, structured, and maintained. You can’t expect to automatically be healthy when you aren’t eating healthful foods. You can’t expect to have strong muscles when you aren’t exercising them and pushing them beyond their normal limits. You can’t expect to make friends and have healthy relationships when you never communicate. You can’t expect to stick and follow through on your budget when you don’t take the time to update it.
There are areas each of us can pull up the slack and step it up a notch. There are better ways to treat people. Choosing to have a good attitude. Choosing to forgive. Choosing to eat an apple rather than a bag of chips. Choosing to walk up the stairs to the office than ride the elevator.
Make better choices to help you live a more balanced life!
Look for opportunities to improve. They are around you everywhere, all day long!
