Living on Live Food by Alissa Cohen ( Recommended Reading
This is a great book for those first starting out on the raw food lifestyle. This 575-page book is a wonderful resource for equipment needs and uses, nutritional value for lots of differing foods, testimonials along with before and after pictures of those who have converted to a raw and living foods lifestyle, as well as LOTS of recipes to make for your own family.
There is also a chapter devoted entirely to frequently asked questions from those wanting to or thinking about converting to a raw diet. There are many myths challenged and debunked regarding calcium, protein, and dairy intake. It’s very informative and the recipes are very easy, even for a beginner. This book is HIGHLY recommended.

Raw Food Real World: 100 Recipes to Get the Glow by Matthew Kenney & Sarma Melngailis

This is a very pretty and colorful book. It’s a great resource for knowing what to have in your pantry and the benefits of each item.

If you are new to raw food but miss the fancy meals, this book is for you! Some recipes are easy and quick for those on the go and lots are gourmet.

This book was written by two chefs from NY City that tasted raw food on the recommendation of a friend and never went back. Once they became more comfortable with their new lifestyle, they were impressed to start a raw restaurant – and that’s what they did – in NY City.

I recommend reading this book for great information on the benefits of raw foods and for new, gourmet raw recipes!

Detoxify or Die by Sherry A. Rogers, M.D.

This is an excellent book for detoxification and ways to detox. Sherry Rogers goes into detail about the importance of understanding chemical toxicity, what things around us that cause toxicity and why, and how to get the poisons out of our systems.

She also discusses the importance of making sure the toxins are removed so our bodies can function and heal as designed.

This book can be fairly technical, but those that really want to know more about toxins and the benefits of detox should read this book!

Recipes For Life (A Raw Food Cookbook) by Becky Mauldin

I HIGHLY recommend this cookbook, not just because it’s written by my sister, but because it is an EXCELLENT resource for people first starting out on the raw and living foods lifestyle. It is full of easy-to-make dishes that taste DELICIOUS!!!

Try recipes like Fruit Tart, Pear Cobbler, Pumpkin Seed Flatbread, Stuffed Mushrooms, and Spinach Lasagna!

Becky also describes the history of raw foods, gives receipes of some international raw foods, and makes suggestions of ways to boost your raw and living foods lifestyle!
