Recipe: Banana Nut Cacao Smoothie

This Banana Nut Cacao Smoothie is one of my favorite breakfasts or afternoon snacks. It’s filling, healthy, and delicious. With the added flax and cacao, this smoothie is outrageously nutritious! I enjoy smoothies because they are so easy to make by just throwing all the ingredients into a blender and turning it on. Fast & delicious!

1 banana
1 tbsp almond butter or cashew butter
1 tbsp coconut butter
1 1/2 – 2 cups coconut milk or water
1 tbsp flax meal
1 or 2 dashes of cinnamon
1 tbsp raw cacao nibs

Blend all ingredients on high in a blender for 2 minutes to make sure cacao nibs are ground up well. You could also put them in a coffee grinder first, then add the powder to the blender.

Raw cacao nibs are chocolate in its natural form. The nibs can be found at some local health food stores and also online on sites like

The cacao nibs and flax add an enormous amount of vitamins and minerals to this smoothie. Cacao stacks up as one of the best superfoods on the planet, with plenty of minerals like magnesium, iron, etc., with every spoonful!
