Struggles in This Life

We all go through struggles. For some of us, it’s with our weight. For others, possibly keeping the right job. For more, choosing the right foods to put into their mouths. And for a growing number of us, it’s not just maintaining our kids’ health, but getting them completely healed and restored.

We can live this life by our own will and in our own strength. But that’s not God’s best. There’s a reason we are told to abide in Him and He will abide in us. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Though, we never give that opportunity of perfection when we take matters into our own hands.

Sure, we are supposed to do our part. If you take no action, no effort can be rewarded. Faith without action might as well be dead.

If we listen to that still, small voice that talks to us, pointing us in a direction, then FOLLOW that guidance, that’s where miracles take place.

Stop trying to figure things out on your own. Stop TRYING so hard. Pray. Seek. Find. And when the door is opened, plow through that sucker!! HEAR what He is telling you and DO IT.

He knows far more better than we do what foods our bodies need, what exercises we need to be working on, what job we need to have, what therapy our kids need… even what teachers they need this year, as well as friends.

You need to choose to no longer do things in your own strength, but ask for God to direct your every step. He will get you to the correct destination faster than anything else. And don’t be surprised if He teaches you things along the way. He’s really good at that!

Listen. Learn. Live.

He wants the best for you and your family. Don’t give in. Don’t give up. Stand strong. Stand in HIM and Him alone. Trust Him for your every need. Give and be obedient…

… and you just watch how AWESOME my God is to supply to you everything you need… even the desires of your heart!

Have you given up the right to do everything yourself? Have you denied yourself to follow His direction and guidance? Are you being obedient?

  1. Jessica, great article on learning to lean on Jesus. Listen, Learn, Live. Right on. Listen to our Master at all times and in all things. Learn from what He tells us and the example He set for us. Live our life for Him and His Glory. Thanks for the inspiration to remember to do all things for the Glory of the Lord and to wait on Him to direct me.

  2. Great article, Jessica. We all need to realize that God is the director of our lives, and if we follow that guidance, we will succeed. Learning that we have no rights to ourselves is a hard lesson for everyone.

  3. Nice meeting you here Jessica & love your post today. I, too, needed to hear the words you shared — especially about not trying to do things in my own strength and trying so hard, but to listen to what He has to say!

    1. If we will humble ourselves at the beginning of every situation and ask HIM what to do, say, etc., life goes much better! I’m glad this spoke to you today… it did to me as I was writing it!!

  4. Great stuff as usual Jessica. It took me a while to understand that God doesn’t speak in some foreign voice you’ve never heard before. Instead it’s often that still small voice inside. It took me a long time to understand that because that voice sounds like my own. It sounds like me, thinking. It was my mother who helped me understand that that small voice inside is the voice of God.
This was such an encouragement today. Thank you!

    1. You’re welcome, Ron! Yes, I’m trying to teach my kids that, too. I think they are starting to get it, but still ask a lot of questions. I’d certainly rather they ask questions than not be talking at all!!

  5. It is such a blessing to kn ow that when we follow that still small voice that we will always come to the other side of situations. The listening part is the most difficult part for people, but when you do, you will realize that it is our only compass in life.

  6. I surrender all.
That old hymn describes how we are supposed to deal with our lives. Total surrender to Jesus. Not fatalism, and letting whatever will happen to happen, but as you said instead of trying so hard, letting God do the ‘heavy lifting’
