Find Your Vision, Purpose, and Passion

I opened my e-mail today and there was Proverbs 29:18 staring me in the face – “Where there is no vision, the people perish…

Wow.

That sums up my life in a nutshell over the last month and a half.

Honestly, I believe part of me was in that perishing realm because I’ve been fighting and stuggling so hard on my own. I thought I was going about things just a bit wrong and that’s why things have felt “off” – or maybe I just haven’t stuck it out long enough – or perhaps I need to just learn a bit more and it will all start to click.

All of these thoughts played over and over in my head until I started questioning everything.

Then I made a change.

Almost 2 years ago, I started on a journey of personal development. I didn’t realize that’s what it was at the time because I wasn’t really seeking it. I was more interested in developing my business skills, which of course, falls under the “personal development” umbrella. However, I wasn’t focused on intentionally bettering ME until I noticed it was ME who was benefiting the most.

I began reading every book I could that was suggested from people and mentors I trusted. I watched videos. I listened to audios. I absorbed. I soaked. I applied. And I changed.

Here’s the #1 tip I can give you today for getting to the real, deep down vision and purpose for your life…

Do the work of bettering yourself by dealing with your crap – and when I say crap, I mean the junk that’s festering in the lowest parts of your soul that needs to be unearthed, dislodged, and chucked to the wind, never to be seen again – and you need to fill that hole with new skills, new loving attitudes, new acceptance of others, new trust that God has your back, new belief that He will lead you, new faith that you were born for more, and relying on Him to show you what that is as you press for more growth, truth, and being genuine.

I have been “doing the work” on myself, like I said, for going on almost 2 years… like REALLY working on myself. Not this, “oh, I’ll just read through this book and see what sounds good.” No, I have cried as I have read, written in a journal in answer to questions posed in books, and actually written out plans of change.

Better change.

Growth.

I have remained open, calm, and trusting through some fairly crazy and unbelievable issues in my life because I had nothing better to do. What’s better than staying calm, not freaking out, and trusting that everything will be ok? What’s the alternative? Freaking out, doing things your own way, taking the reins of your life, and potentially making an even bigger mess. Uhh, no thank you.

When you find this sweet spot of life (and it’s not always easy), you realize that you aren’t your crazy thoughts. There is more truth about you that you have yet to step into. You realize that God can make something better from a burned down house, a marriage torn apart, a lost job, or whatever happens to be your life story. Deep down you know that all things work together for the good of those that love God and are called according to HIS purpose.

We may not have all the answers, however, it sure does put me in a state of awe when it’s in the moment that we CHOOSE to remain in the sweet spot, trusting God, and focusing on making ourselves better that we meet God in a whole new place. It’s where visions are given, passion comes to life, and the once numb, burnt out, depressed, and apathetic morsels of our lives spark again and burst into flame!

It’s where life has meaning again.

It’s where contentment and joy can be found.

It’s where peace lives.

It’s where dreams are not just made, but lived.

It’s after we have put in the work of getting through our messes that we are able to receive more – receive visions, our purpose, God’s plan for us, rekindle passions we once had or even gain new ones, etc.

I love this quote I heard recently that touched my heart in the area of vision… “Those who know the outcome can afford to wait and wait without anxiety.”

Trust without hesitation. Give without abandon. Love without reservation.

Isn’t that how God wants us to live? Trusting Him. Believing in the vision He’s placed in our hearts. And seeing it through by us showing up every day for our part to play.

If you are feeling like you are floundering, have yet to find your way, passion, or purpose, I challenge you with this – when’s the last time you looked deep, really deep, and dug out the negative, critical, judgmental, controlling, self-righteous, egotistical parts of you and let love, compassion, passion, creativity, peace, and joy fill their slots? Have you begun that journey yet? Have you found your passion and see a vision for your future? I don’t know about you, but mine EXCITES ME!! Share in the comments below. I love hearing from you!

Find Your Vision, Purpose, and Passion

Gratitude Opens Doors

There’s a shift in the wind. A changing tide.

The winds are blowing and there is greatness on the edges of the breeze.

Can you feel it?

I can. And so many people I’ve talked to lately are in a similar place in their lives.

Very interesting.

I have felt lost for awhile. Actually, a very long while. I’ve felt like I’m struggling and striving. I’m learning and implementing, however, something’s still missing.

I have felt like I’ve been missing it – missing something critical – maybe even my purpose.

Sure, I’ve helped people. My knowledge and skills have helped plenty of others. However, I haven’t felt like I’ve yet landed on doing what I’ve been put on this planet to do.

And then… something amazing happened! But let me take a step backwards for a minute…

When I don’t know where to go or what to do, when I feel like I need answers, I decide to become thankful. When I focus on what I DO have and what I can find contentment in that I currently have in my life, it shifts my perspective and gives me a new outlook on my life.

Even more fascinating than that, it’s given me answers. It’s filled in the gaps. New ideas are flowing – innovative ideas – straight from Heaven.

I haven’t even fully stepped into them yet and it’s already exciting!!

When we learn to work with what we have and be thankful for what we’ve been given and focus on being and doing our best, we are somehow, by the grace of God, propelled into something even better than we could have imagined.

If you have never kept a Gratitude Journal, I suggest you start one TODAY! You will be surprised by what you write, what comes flowing out of you, and what you learn about yourself.

I encourage you to come up with at least 5 things to be thankful for from each day.

Personally, I write in mine each evening because the day is fresh in my mind and it frees up my mind and opens my heart for my evening prayer before bed to receive directly from Heaven.

We are creative beings – created and made to create – the flow of creativity works like a river. It flows.

When you write in your Gratitude Journal, you are releasing not just thankfulness, but part of your heart. When you allow things to flow out, that’s when you are free to be filled again. We are made to operate like a river – the current flows in and flows out just to have more flow in again. I believe this applies to our attitude of gratefulness, too. Being thankful opens our hearts and lives to receive more.

Give it a try. Be thankful. Learn about yourself. Find contentment. Make it a daily practice - your lifestyle!

Do you already keep a Gratitude Journal? How often do you write in it? Have you noticed a difference in your life and attitude since you started writing in it? If you don’t have one, are you going out to get one… today (hint, hint!)? All it takes is a simple notebook – no need to get a fancy journal or spend loads of money. Just get one and start writing! Share with me in the comments below how it’s going for you.

Gratitude Opens Doors

Where Healing and Loving Life Intersect

I’m sitting here getting choked up with all sorts of emotions. I’m elated, nervous, sad, thrilled, and frustrated all at the same time.

I feel like I’m called to help people, though, today it may only be through me helping myself – because that’s all I feel I can do.

I feel lost and very much found at the same time. I feel I’m questioning SO much, yet already have the answers. I feel I’m sitting on the verge of something major with no clue how to get there.

However, I think that’s where God wants us – vulnerable. Trusting. Alert. Seeking.

He wants to give us a glimpse and have us trust that He will get us there.

What frustrates and saddens me is that I still question and fight doubt.

What thrills, elates, and even makes me nervous is the vision of what’s to come.

It’s as though I’m on the edge of a cliff and can easily look back, crawl to obvious safety, and know I’ll be ok… but just ok.

OR…

I can take a giant leap of faith and know that even though I can’t see the thing that will catch me – still MOVE and trust that it’s there.

It’s exciting and nerve-racking at the same time!

And it would far exceed ANY safety behind me.

I love life.

I love the thrill of it. The changes. The possiblities.

I live to love life.

Have you ever heard that nothing happens by coincidence? Or maybe you’ve heard it this way – when you are open to getting the answers, they come to you?

Not only have I heard that A LOT lately, but so many things have happened, almost an absurd amount, that it CANNOT be coincidence.

I believe that when you are listening for divine purpose and calling, it shows up – sometimes right on your doorstep.

It can also come through e-mail, a video, social media, a book, a neighbor, a friend, a friend of a friend, or even a stranger.

I know God is doing a healing work on me, in my heart and life.

I know that He has greatness for me.

I know that if I stay pursuing Him and His plans for my life, He will take me to amazing places.

Of course there will be bumps along the way, however, choosing how to deal with them makes all the difference.

He has expanded my vision for my life FAR BEYOND anything I could have dreamt up myself!

To Him be the glory…

Did you have a time in your life when you felt both the need to get stronger and healed, yet you could feel a shift in the air for something bigger and better? I’d love to hear your story! Share in the comments below.

Change Your Life in One Week

Blueberries 300x200 Change Your Life in One WeekFor 1 week to the day, I’ve been leading an awesome group challenge in everything from health in our bodies, minds, and relationships to finances and time management.

Our very first day of homework was to come up with 1 goal we wanted to accomplish by the end of the 30 days of April.

For me, my goal was that I wanted to be eating 80% raw foods by April 30th.

I decided I wanted to focus on getting back into raw foods more because I’ve eaten that way before and it’s the best I’ve ever felt!! I could focus, required less sleep, had brighter eyes and teeth, and much more. My system was happy. I was happy.

So, I started working on my goal the day I began the challenge because, after all, I am leading it and knew which step was coming first! (duh! Why not take advantage of the time?)

I am already eating about 70-80% raw most days and have noticed a difference in just a few, short, 7 days.

You may not think it’s much, however, if you’ve lived with my symptoms and then been freed of them, it’s a big deal!

Have you ever heard of brain fog? Maybe you haven’t, but I’m guessing you’ll know what it is when I describe it.

- It’s having a conversation with someone 5 minutes ago and you can’t quite remember what it was about.

- It’s knowing you know how to get somewhere, but it takes you 3 minutes to just sit in your car, waiting for the inspiration to come before you pull out of your driveway.

- It’s entering a room and not remembering why you went in there.

- It’s knowing you have something important to do today, you just don’t remember what it is.

- It’s feeling like you have to dust off the filing cabinets in your brain and start rummaging just to figure out how to make your mom’s famous lasagna recipe that you’ve cooked dozens of times and used to know how to make without the recipe.

- It’s phone numbers seemingly dropping out of your head.

- It’s not remembering the names of people you just met.

- It’s knowing your brain used to process faster and it feels like it’s chugging along just to keep up.

That’s the one that bothered me the most. The chugging. Knowing I have a fast-processing brain (most people close to me say my brain is working constantly!), and feeling like it’s working through sludge just to recall things I should know how to do in my sleep.

Brain fog is not fun. It’s scary, actually. Most people resolve that it’s because of age. I disagree. I believe it’s because of our diets and not taking care of our brains.

Between the information I’ve learned about the power of the foods we eat and the research I’ve done on brain health and neurotransmitters, I very much disagree.

If someone in their 20′s or even 30′s is experiencing the symptoms I listed above (or possibly even 60′s), there is no way that’s age related.

We need to stop looking at our symptoms like they are age-related or that they “just happen as you get older.”

After just one week of eating more fresh, raw, organic foods, my brain fog is lifting. I can tell my brain is processing at a much faster rate than it has in a LONG time. (Did you know that we can recognize if our brain speed has slowed down by just 7 milliseconds?) I can recall things faster. I can pick up projects where I left off and jump right back in instead of having to review half of the project first.

The other cool thing that’s happened is that I actually felt like taking the kids out the other day. Not just out, but to the store, to the playground, and even have a picnic.

When I would have to go out before, I would force myself to do it. Because I’m happy being at home, too, I thought it was just my personality making me push through an “I don’t wanna” attitude. So, we’d go out and do things, but I would have to force myself to load everyone in the van and even force a smile on my face.

Don’t assume your personality is altering your behavior! Check out anything odd and realize it’s a symptom of something greater.

Saturday, I took the kids out, and we had a blast. We ate a picnic at the playground and even stopped at the store for a special dessert treat! It was something I wanted to do, not something I felt forced into. And there is a big difference.

If you take nothing else away from this, take these 2 things:

1) Your life can be improved dramatically by simple, small positive actions over a few steady days

2) Don’t assume your symptoms are connected to your age – look deeper – what’s the foundation of what you are feeding and fueling your body with? Does it bring life?

I’m so thankful for this challenge group and us holding each other accountable to make positive changes in just a few short days. It really is incredible!

Make the Most Out of Your Life Today

Oh my goodness! My challenge is going better than anticipated!

People are sharing, being honest, and even offering wisdom to others they don’t even know.

Wow!

I’m blessed to have a wonderful group of clients and friends who care about each other, making their lives better, and moving in a positive direction to do their best in all areas of their lives.

I can’t wait to continue on and see what growth and results we have by May 1st!

We just started, so it’s not too late to join. Visit the “Step It Up” Challenge page to read more details & sign up – you still can – but TODAY’S the last day!!

Today, in the group, we are listing our goals we want to achieve by the end of the 30 days.

This is our motto for all 30 days (below) – reaching for our personal best!

Reach to do your Make the Most Out of Your Life Today

You can sign up for all the groups in the world, memberships, programs, and even buy products, but if you aren’t willing to get the most out of it and apply what you learn, what’s the point?

Here are some ways you can get the most out of whatever you have signed up for:

1. Invest SOMETHING Into It

Regarding my challenge, it’s free, however, participants are spending their time in the group to absorb the information and establish new relationships and nurture old ones.

Money is a good investment, too – paying for something, especially it’s real value, makes you cherish and take care of it more.

Imagine buying an antique table. You would make sure no one leaves a sweaty glass on it to avoid rings. You would dust it often and maybe even apply a substance to the top of it to help preserve the wood.

So, why would something of value that increases your skills, knowledge, and wisdom be any different? Those things should be valued more than stuff any day.

If you have invested time and/or money, make sure you make the most of the experience and get all you can out of it!

2. Absorb as Much as You Can From It

Did you know we only retain a small fraction of what we read and hear? Einstein, a genius, only retained 13%!

If that’s the case, how much information do you think you absorb after reading a book for the first time?

What about a training DVD?

What about that audio mp3 that was supposed to help you lose weight?

To get the most out of our investments into our personal growth, we need to revisit them often.

3. Add the Program to Your Schedule

We take time for things that matter to us. If you have invested into something, you need to invest yourself, as well.

You can’t learn from something that sits on the shelf and collects dust.

I have so many training materials I’ve invested in, it would probably take me 6 months to a year to fully get through them all and learn actionable steps from each. Could you imagine how many years from now it would be before I worked through them all if I had the attitude of “ah, I’ll just get to it when I can get to it?” That’s just crazy. It’s like saying “I’ll do it tomorrow” and tomorrow never comes.

Plan to use your investment each and every day… until you have totally exhausted it.

Will this take you away from other things? Yes. However, you chose to participate for a reason. What was it? Determine TODAY what you will get out of it and take the steps to add working through it onto your calendar.

Be sure not to fill that time with anything else. Make it a priority.

It’s not too late to join my challenge group and make something great out of your life in April!! Sign up before the doors are closed!
